Cranberry and Raspberry Star Cookies

If you have not participated in a holiday cookie exchange I highly recommend it.  It is so much fun sitting around sipping on hot beverages and noming on cookies.  Plus you come home with a cookie assortment of cookies and recipes that you can regift or put out for visitors during the holidays.  Not that there is a shortage of sweets around.

I came across this recipe when I was browsing December copy of Bon Appetit.  I already wanted to make a filled cookie, and I happened to have both raspberry jam and cranberries on hand.  These cookies look just as amazing as they taste.  I loved the mix of lemon, nutmeg, and cranberry.  They were sweet, but not over the top.

And the filling,

I bought this cute star cookie cutter from Amazon that worked perfect for the job.  A fun Christmas gift idea might be a tin of these cookies along with a nicely typed recipe and a set of star cookie cutter.  You could also throw in a silpat and some Le Creuset silicone spatulas.  I may or may not be making similar gift baskets for family and friends.

The recipe can be found at Bon Appetit.
