If you have not participated in a holiday cookie exchange I highly recommend it. It is so much fun sitting around sipping on hot beverages and noming on cookies. Plus you come home with a cookie assortment of cookies and recipes that you can regift or put out for visitors during the holidays. Not that there is a shortage of sweets around. 
I came across this recipe when I was browsing December copy of Bon Appetit. I already wanted to make a filled cookie, and I happened to have both raspberry jam and cranberries on hand. These cookies look just as amazing as they taste. I loved the mix of lemon, nutmeg, and cranberry. They were sweet, but not over the top.
They aren’t hard to make, but they are a bit time consuming. There is the cutting:
I bought this cute star cookie cutter from Amazon that worked perfect for the job. A fun Christmas gift idea might be a tin of these cookies along with a nicely typed recipe and a set of star cookie cutter. You could also throw in a silpat and some Le Creuset silicone spatulas. I may or may not be making similar gift baskets for family and friends.
